Description

Maczith is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Upper respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis
  • Otitis media
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis

Azithromycin binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms, inhibiting protein synthesis without affecting nucleic acid production. It exhibits broad-spectrum activity against various bacteria, including:

  • Gram-positive:
    Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes
  • Gram-negative:
    Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus ducreyi
