Magaldrate 400mgÂ
Dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and flatulence can all be relieved by magaldrate. It’s also used to treat hyperacidity caused by peptic ulcers, gastritis, or esophagitis. If necessary, magaldrate can be given to children.
Magaldrate is a hydroxymagnesium aluminate complex that is rapidly transformed to Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3, which are poorly absorbed and give a long-lasting antacid action.
Tablet: 1-3 tablets, after meals and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.
Patients who have a known intolerance to magnesium or aluminum should avoid magaldrate. It’s also not recommended for people who have kidney problems.
Constipation and diarrhea are possible side effects.
Magaldrate may be taken during pregnancy if appropriate, although excessive dosage should be avoided.
Magaldrate may enter into breast milk; however, it has not been shown to cause problems in nursing babies.
