Maxiflox contains Moxifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Its antibacterial effect comes from inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and cell division.
Eye Drops:
- One drop in the affected eye three times daily for 7 days
Maxiflox Ophthalmic Solution is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as Chlamydia trachomatis. It is also available as an intraocular injection to prevent postoperative bacterial endophthalmitis.
