Polyethylene Glycol (Macrogol) functions as an osmotic laxative by drawing water into the intestines, softening stools, and stimulating bowel movements. It increases stool volume, activating colon motility through neuromuscular pathways, thereby improving bowel transit and easing defecation. The electrolytes present in the formulation help maintain electrolyte balance in the body, preventing excess gain or loss of sodium, potassium, and water. Since Macrogol is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, it remains unchanged throughout digestion.
