Nalbun Injection is indicated for the relief of moderate to severe pain. It is particularly used in:
- Myocardial infarction (MI)
- Preoperative and postoperative analgesia
- Balanced anesthesia supplementation
- Obstetrical analgesia during labor and delivery
Nalbuphine Hydrochloride (Nalbun) is a synthetic opioid analgesic that binds to mu, kappa, and delta receptors, excluding sigma receptors. Its analgesic potency is equivalent to morphine on a milligram basis and is 10 times more potent than pentazocine, but with lower side effects and less abuse potential. The onset of action is 2 to 3 minutes after intravenous administration and less than 15 minutes following intramuscular injection. The plasma half-life is 5 hours, and the duration of analgesic activity ranges from 3 to 6 hours.
