Mirogabalin selectively binds with high affinity to the α2δ subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) in the dorsal root ganglion. This action reduces calcium influx and suppresses the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, thereby decreasing neuronal hyperexcitability and relieving neuropathic pain symptoms.
Mirogabalin is a novel agent for the management of neuropathic pain, including diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP), postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), and other forms of peripheral neuropathic pain (PNP).
