Nupralgin Plus combines an immediate-release layer of esomeprazole magnesium with an enteric-coated naproxen core. This unique formulation allows esomeprazole to be released in the stomach before naproxen is absorbed in the intestine.
Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion through inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells. By reducing stomach acid production, it helps protect the gastrointestinal tract from NSAID-induced ulceration.
Nupralgin Plus is indicated for the management of:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Reducing the risk of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers in patients who require long-term NSAID therapy and are at increased risk of ulcer development
Treatment should be individualized based on the patient’s condition and response. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary.
Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis & Ankylosing Spondylitis
Adults:
- One tablet twice daily containing either:
- Naproxen 375 mg + Esomeprazole 20 mg, or
- Naproxen 500 mg + Esomeprazole 20 mg
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (Patients ≥12 years)
Body weight >50 kg:
- One tablet twice daily (375/20 mg or 500/20 mg)
Body weight 38–50 kg:
- One tablet twice daily containing Naproxen 375 mg + Esomeprazole 20 mg
- Take the tablet at least 30 minutes before meals.
- Swallow whole with water.
- Do not crush, chew, split, or dissolve the tablet.
