- Blocking histamine (H1 receptors) in the eyes
- Preventing histamine release from mast cells
- Reducing allergic inflammation in the conjunctiva
This helps control redness, itching, and watery eyes caused by allergic reactions.
OPT is an antihistamine eye drop used for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, a condition caused by allergens such as:
- Pollen
- Dust
- Animal dander (fur)
- Other environmental irritants
It helps relieve symptoms such as:
- Redness
- Itching
- Swelling
- Watering of the eyes
Olopatadine acts as a selective H1 antihistamine with mast cell stabilizing properties. It reduces allergic responses in the eye by:
- Blocking histamine receptors
- Preventing the release of inflammatory mediators
Adults:
- 1 drop in each affected eye once daily
Children (above 2 years):
- 1 drop in each affected eye once daily
- For external eye use only
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Instill the recommended number of drops into the affected eye(s)
- Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or any surface
- Wipe away excess fluid after use
Continue treatment regularly at evenly spaced intervals and complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Missed Dose
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not double the dose
