Ursodeoxycholic Acid 300 mg Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of gallstones, primary biliary cholangitis (an autoimmune liver condition), high cholesterol in bile, and certain biliary or liver disorders in children over 6 years with cystic fibrosis.
This medicine contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile acid that lowers cholesterol production and dissolves cholesterol-based gallstones.
Not all patients will experience side effects, but some may notice abdominal pain, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea, rash, dizziness, indigestion, or fatigue. Most of these effects are mild and temporary. If they persist, consult your physician.
- Always follow the dosage prescribed by your doctor.
- Take the tablet with food to reduce stomach upset.
- Swallow whole with water—do not chew, crush, or break.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Inform your doctor if you:
- Are allergic to ursodeoxycholic acid.
- Have a history of variceal bleeding, ascites (fluid in the abdomen), severe liver disease, or portal hypertension.
- Are you pregnant or breastfeeding (use only if prescribed).
- Consume alcohol (avoid as it may worsen liver damage and increase drowsiness).
