Description

Parixol is prescribed for:

  • Parkinson’s disease – as monotherapy or in combination with levodopa/dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor.
  • Moderate to severe Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS).
  1. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Use only if the potential benefit outweighs the risks.
  2. Lactation: Not recommended. Pramipexole inhibits prolactin and may suppress lactation. If necessary, discontinue breastfeeding.

Parixol contains Pramipexole, a selective dopamine D2/D3 receptor agonist.

It stimulates dopamine receptors in the striatum, improving motor function in Parkinson’s disease.

Shows stronger binding affinity for D3 receptors, though the exact clinical significance remains under study.

Not appreciably metabolized by the CYP450 system, minimizing risk of metabolic drug-drug interactions.
