Roxithromycin is an antibacterial medication primarily used to treat infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It belongs to the macrolide class of antibiotics, which are similar in action to erythromycin. Pedilid is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, as well as atypical pathogens like Mycoplasma and Chlamydia.
Pedilid 300 contains Roxithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage mild to moderately severe bacterial infections such as upper respiratory tract infections like acute pharyngitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections like acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and acute bronchitis (inflammation of bronchial tube with thick mucus and breathing difficulties, community-acquired pneumonia (lung infection acquired outside the hospital), skin and soft tissues infections, impetigo (contagious skin infections with red sores around the face, mouth, and nose), non-gonococcal urethritis (inflammation of urinary tube causing pain and burning sensation while urinating), acute pharyngitis, and tonsillitis (inflammation of tonsils or pharynx with sore throat and pain during swallowing).
