Indications of Prolert 20
A type of antidepressant known as Prolert 20 is a member of the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) drug class. Pharmacology
An antidepressant that is a phenylpropanolamine derivative is fluoxetine hydrochloride. It has no chemical affinity for tetracycline, tricyclic, or any other type of antidepressant. According to research, fluoxetine increases the concentration of synaptic serotonin in the central nervous system (CNS) by selectively inhibiting serotonin (5-HT) reuptake at the presynaptic neuronal membrane.
Administration & Dosage of Prolert 20
A dose increase may be considered if there has been no clinical improvement for several weeks. It is recommended to administer doses greater than 20 mg twice daily—at noon and in the morning—and not to go over 80 mg per day. As with other antidepressants, it may take 4 weeks or longer for the full antidepressant effect to take effect. similar to many other drugs.
Interaction of Prolert 20
Serotonergic drugs may cause serotonin syndrome (e.g. triptans, TCAs, fentanyl, tramadol, lithium, buspirone, tryptophan). Aspirin, NSAIDs, warfarin, and other anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding. Phenytoin levels in the blood may rise.
Contraindications
There have been reports of serious, occasionally fatal reactions in patients receiving Fluoxetine in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, including hyperthermia, rigidity, myoclonus, autonomic instability with potential rapid fluctuations of vital signs, and changes in mental status, including extreme agitation progressing to delirium and coma (MAOIs)
