- Hepatic impairment: Monitor and adjust dose to the lowest effective level
- Renal impairment and the elderly: No additional precautions beyond standard glucocorticoid guidelines
- Pregnancy: Crosses the placenta. Prolonged use may cause intrauterine growth restriction. Use only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
- Breastfeeding: Excreted in breast milk. Doses ≤50 mg/day are unlikely to affect the infant significantly. Monitor if using higher doses.
Refla is prescribed for a wide range of inflammatory, autoimmune, and immunological conditions, including:
- Severe allergic reactions: Anaphylaxis, asthma, and hypersensitivity disorders
- Rheumatologic diseases: Rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica
- Systemic autoimmune diseases: Systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, sarcoidosis, polyarteritis nodosa
- Severe dermatologic conditions: Pemphigus, bullous pemphigoid, pyoderma gangrenosum
- Renal and cardiac conditions: Minimal change nephrotic syndrome, acute interstitial nephritis, rheumatic carditis
- Gastrointestinal diseases: Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease
- Ophthalmic issues: Uveitis, optic neuritis
- Hematologic disorders: Autoimmune hemolytic anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
- Malignancies: Acute lymphatic leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma
- Post-transplant immune suppression
