Rimactazid (Rifampicin 300mg + Isoniazid 150mg) is part of a group of medications known as antituberculosis agents. This combination consists of two highly effective drugs that inhibit the growth of mycobacteria responsible for causing tuberculosis. It is specifically used for the continuation phase treatment of tuberculosis.

Rifampicin and Isoniazid are potent bactericidal agents against tuberculosis (TB). They are particularly effective against rapidly multiplying extracellular bacteria and have bactericidal activity within cells. Rifampicin: Inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase in susceptible cells, selectively targeting bacterial RNA polymerase without affecting mammalian enzymes. It is effective against both slow-growing and intermittently growing Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Isoniazid: Primarily acts on actively multiplying tubercle bacilli.
