Rosuva EZ 5/10 Tablet

This combination of Rosuvastatin (a statin) and Ezetimibe (a cholesterol absorption inhibitor) is indicated in adults:

• As an adjunct to diet for the management of Hyperlipidemia, particularly to reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with primary non-familial hyperlipidemia
• As monotherapy or in combination with other lipid-lowering treatments in patients with Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) to reduce LDL-C levels

Rosuvastatin:
Rosuvastatin reduces plasma cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a key role in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. It also enhances the expression of LDL receptors in the liver, increasing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream and reducing its production.

Ezetimibe:
Ezetimibe lowers cholesterol levels by selectively blocking its absorption in the small intestine. It targets the sterol transporter responsible for intestinal uptake of cholesterol and plant sterols, thereby reducing the amount entering circulation.
