Rosuvastatin
A powerful statin for effective cholesterol management and cardiovascular risk reduction
RTV is prescribed as an adjunct to diet in the following cases:
- Primary hyperlipidemia and mixed dyslipidemia: To reduce total cholesterol (total-C), LDL-C, ApoB, non-HDL-C, triglycerides (TG), and to increase HDL-C levels.
- Hypertriglyceridemia: For lowering triglyceride levels.
- Primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III).
- Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): To reduce LDL-C, total-C, and ApoB levels.
- Slowing atherosclerosis progression: As part of a comprehensive lipid-lowering strategy.
- Pediatric heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH): For patients aged 10–17 years who haven’t responded adequately to diet therapy.
- Primary prevention: To reduce the risk of myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, and arterial revascularization procedures in patients without clinically evident coronary heart disease (CHD) but with multiple cardiovascular risk factors.
