Sertacon VS is indicated for the local treatment of vaginal candidiasis, a fungal infection primarily caused by Candida albicans. Do not discontinue treatment during menstruation.
Sertaconazole is a broad-spectrum topical imidazole antifungal agent effective against:
- Pathogenic yeasts (Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, Pityrosporum orbiculare)
- Dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum)
- Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus)
Its antifungal action is achieved by disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity, leading to fungal cell death. It also exhibits some antibacterial properties.
