Tazobac 4.5 IV Infusion  is used in the management of:
- Intra-abdominal infections: appendicitis, peritonitis
- Skin & soft tissue infections: cellulitis, abscesses, diabetic foot infections
- Female pelvic infections: postpartum endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease
- Lower respiratory tract infections: community-acquired pneumonia, ventilator-associated pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections & pyelonephritis
- Biliary tract infections
- Septicemia (bacteraemia)
- Bacterial meningitis in infants and children
- Neutropenia-related infections (used in combination with other antibiotics)
Tazobac 4.5 IV Infusion is a combination of Piperacillin (a penicillin-class antibiotic) and Tazobactam (a β-lactamase inhibitor). This broad-spectrum antibiotic is prescribed for treating a variety of moderate to severe bacterial infections in adults, children (above 2 months), and elderly patients.
Before receiving Tazobac 4.5 IV Infusion, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- other antibiotics used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. gentamycin, streptomycin, neomycin, amikacin, vancomycin)
- medicine used to manage gout (Ex. Probenecid)
- medicine used as a muscle relaxant during surgery (Ex. vecuronium)
- medicines used to manage blood clots (Ex. heparin, warfarin, aspirin)
- methotrexate (used to manage cancer, arthritis, or psoriasis)
- medicines reducing potassium levels (Ex. furosemide)
