Amlodipine 5mg + Atenolol 25mg | This preparation combines Amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) and Atenolol (a beta-blocker) for synergistic control of blood pressure and cardiac workload.

Amlodipine:

• A dihydropyridine calcium channel antagonist that inhibits calcium influx in vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle
• Acts predominantly on vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance
• Decreases coronary vasoreactivity, lowers afterload, and reduces cardiac oxygen demand

Atenolol:

• A cardioselective beta-blocker (selectivity is dose-dependent)
• Lowers blood pressure by reducing cardiac output, suppressing plasma renin activity, and decreasing sympathetic outflow
• Provides cardioprotection by reducing myocardial oxygen demand through negative inotropic and chronotropic effects
