- Tofacitinib is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severely active rheumatoid arthritis in adults who have not responded to or are intolerant to methotrexate. It can be used alone or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biologically modifying anti-rheumatic medications (DMARDs).
- It is also indicated for the treatment of active psoriatic arthritis in adults who have a poor response or intolerance to methotrexate or other DMARDs.
- Approved for the treatment of moderate to severe active ulcerative colitis in adults.
- Tofanib XR is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis.
- It helps reduce pain, tenderness, and swelling in the joints by decreasing inflammation.
- Slows the progression of bone and joint damage.
- Tofanib XR may be prescribed alone or in combination with another medicine.
- Tablets can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
- The dosage depends on the patient’s condition and concurrent medications.
- Do not discontinue without a doctor’s advice to prevent the worsening of the condition.
- Blood tests may be required before starting Tofanib XR 11mg.
- Do not start if there is any ongoing infection.
- Prior consultation with the doctor is essential if you have a history of tuberculosis, shingles, kidney or liver disease, hepatitis B or C, or blood clots.
- Increased susceptibility to infections; avoid contact with individuals having contagious diseases.
- Not suitable for children under 18 years old.
- Avoid use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the doctor deems the benefit outweighs the risk.
- Periodic medical examinations may be necessary.
