Montelukast, the active ingredient in Trilock, is a selective, orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that targets the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). Cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are inflammatory molecules derived from arachidonic acid. They are released by cells such as mast cells and eosinophils and contribute to asthma and allergic rhinitis by causing airway swelling, smooth muscle contraction, and other inflammatory effects.
Trilock is prescribed for the following conditions:
- Long-term prevention and management of asthma
- Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB)
- Treatment of symptoms associated with Allergic Rhinitis (AR), including seasonal and perennial types

- Follow your doctor’s instructions for dosage and administration.
- Do not stop taking Trilock or alter your dose without consulting your doctor.
- Trilock is not a fast-acting medication for asthma attacks. Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
- Discuss with your doctor before using Trilock if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
