Permethrin 5% is used in the treatment of scabies and head lice.
Unix 5% Cream, which contains Permethrin, is prescribed for treating scabies in both adults and children aged 2 months and older, as well as crab lice in adults. It functions by effectively eliminating mites, lice, and their eggs, thus curing the infection.
There are some potential side effects associated with Unix 5% Cream, such as itching, redness, and rash at the application site. Typically, these side effects are mild and tend to resolve on their own. If they persist or worsen over an extended period, it’s advisable to consult your doctor. It’s crucial not to use this medication if you have a known allergy to it.
Unix 5% Cream is intended for external use only. Before applying the cream, ensure that the affected area is clean. Apply a thin layer of the medication gently, following your doctor’s instructions. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth, as this may cause irritation. Adhere to the prescribed amount; do not exceed it. Thoroughly wash your hands before and after each application. Allow the cream to remain on your skin for 8-12 hours, then wash it off with soap and water. Typically, it is used once a week. If your condition does not improve after the first use, consult your doctor. Be prepared for itching to persist for up to four weeks after treatment.
Please note that Unix 5% Cream is not recommended for children under the age of 2 months due to the absence of safety and efficacy data for this age group. Inform your doctor about any other skin conditions you may have and disclose all your current medications. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
