Urodart 0.5mg Capsule is used in adult men to treat the signs and symptoms of:
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (overgrowth of the prostate gland, a gland situated between the bladder and penis).
Urodart 0.5mg Capsule contains Dutasteride, which is classified as a 5-Alpha reductase inhibitor medication. It is prescribed to adult men to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. BPH occurs due to the increased production of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in aging men. Symptoms of BPH include urinary difficulties, urinary incontinence, frequent nighttime urination, sexual dysfunction, and painful ejaculation.
Urodart 0.5mg Capsule is often used in combination with other medications such as tamsulosin or silodosin to achieve better results. While undergoing treatment with Urodart 0.5mg Capsule, your doctor will regularly monitor your serum PSA levels (prostate-specific antigen) to minimize the risk of unwanted side effects.
Prior to taking Urodart 0.5mg Capsule, it is important to inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. Pregnant women or those who suspect they may be pregnant should avoid any contact with Urodart 0.5mg Capsule, as it can cause serious harm to the developing fetus.
Men taking Urodart 0.5mg Capsule should use condoms to prevent their partners of childbearing age from being exposed to the medication through the seminal fluid. Additionally, they should refrain from donating blood while on Urodart 0.5mg Capsule therapy and for at least 6 months after discontinuing the treatment to prevent dutasteride exposure to a pregnant female transfusion recipient.
The most commonly reported side effects of Urodart 0.5mg Capsule include reduced sex drive, impotence, difficulty in achieving orgasm, decreased sperm count, and ejaculation problems. If you experience any of these side effects, it is advisable to consult your doctor for guidance.
