Valex CR 200mg Tablet is used:
- Manage or control mania caused by bipolar disorder
- Manage complex partial seizures (adults and children 10 years of age and older) and simple and complex absence seizures, with or without other types of seizure
- Prevent migraine headaches

Abrupt discontinuation of Sodium Valproate is not advised, as it should be tapered gradually to avoid complications.
Common side effects of Sodium Valproate may include dizziness, hair loss, tremors, diarrhea, changes in weight, and blurred or double vision. It’s essential to monitor for mood swings and signs of depression, including suicidal thoughts, especially in certain individuals. In cases of overdose, immediate medical assistance is necessary, as symptoms may include coma, irregular heart rate, and extreme drowsiness.
Dosage typically ranges from 1000mg to 2000mg daily for adults and lower doses for children, starting from 25mg to 30mg. Allergic reactions to Sodium Valproate are rare but may manifest as a rash or chest pain accompanied by shortness of breath, warranting immediate medical attention.
