Zolivox™ is indicated in adults and pediatric patients for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive organisms, including:
- Nosocomial Pneumonia
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia
- Complicated skin and soft tissue infections (including diabetic foot infections without osteomyelitis)
- Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections
- Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus Infection (including bacteremia)
Zolivox™ contains Linezolid, a synthetic antibacterial agent belonging to the oxazolidinone class. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria, including resistant strains. Linezolid inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing formation of the functional 70S initiation complex.
- Bacteriostatic against enterococci and staphylococci
- Bactericidal against most streptococci
