Metaspray contains Mometasone Furoate, a corticosteroid with strong anti-inflammatory activity. Although the precise mechanism in allergic rhinitis is not fully understood, corticosteroids act on multiple cell types (mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes) and mediators (histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, cytokines) involved in inflammatory responses.
Metaspray nasal spray is used to treat nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis in patients ≥2 years, prevent seasonal allergic rhinitis in those ≥12 years, and manage nasal polyps in adults ≥18 years.
Pediatric use: Safety and efficacy in children under 2 years are not established.
Metaspray Nasal Spray is used to manage nasal symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis in patients aged 2 years and older. Its applications include:
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis: Relief and prevention of nasal congestion and other symptoms in patients ≥2 years.
- Prophylaxis: Prevention of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients ≥12 years, especially before allergen exposure.
- Nasal polyps: Treatment of nasal polyps in adults ≥18 years.
