Sodium Picosulfate is a stimulant laxative of the triarylmethane group. After oral administration, it is activated by colonic bacteria, acting locally in the colon. The active form stimulates nerve endings in the intestinal wall, inducing:
- Colonic peristalsis
- Water and electrolyte accumulation in the colonic lumen
- Stool softening and stimulation of defecation
This action helps restore the natural “call to stool” and reduces transit time.
Laxante is indicated for:
- Constipation of any etiology
- Relief from prolonged and recurrent constipation
- Bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth, or radiological investigations
Note: Use under the guidance of a registered physician.
