Inpro (Omeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the final step of gastric acid secretion. It inhibits the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system in the stomach’s parietal cells, leading to potent and long-lasting acid suppression.
Onset: Within 1 hour of oral administration
Peak effect: Around 2 hours
Duration: Acid suppression lasts up to 72 hours
After stopping therapy, gastric acid secretion gradually returns to normal within 3–5 days.
Inpro is indicated for the treatment and prevention of:
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers
- NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcers
- Prophylaxis in patients with a history of NSAID-related ulcers
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Long-term management of acid reflux disease
- Acid-related dyspepsia
- Severe ulcerative reflux esophagitis
- Prevention of acid aspiration during anesthesia
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Helicobacter pylori-induced peptic ulcer (as part of combination therapy)
