Trihexyphenidyl is a non-selective antimuscarinic agent with a stronger affinity for M1 receptors in the brain. It primarily acts on central muscarinic receptors rather than peripheral ones. It may also influence nicotinic receptors, indirectly increasing dopamine release in the brain (especially in the striatum). Although effective in relieving Parkinsonian symptoms and movement disorders, its exact mechanism is not fully understood.
Tridyl tablet is used as an adjunctive therapy in managing different types of Parkinsonism, including post-encephalitic, arteriosclerotic, and idiopathic forms. It is also commonly combined with levodopa to enhance treatment outcomes. Additionally, it helps control extrapyramidal symptoms caused by certain central nervous system drugs such as phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, butyrophenones, and dibenzoxazepines.

Description
Tridyl works by inhibiting the parasympathetic nervous system directly. It also relaxes smooth muscles, both through direct action on muscle tissue and indirectly via its anticholinergic effects.
