Atrogen 1% Eye Drops 10ml

Atropine Sulphate, containing atropine, is used for the following purposes:

• Treatment of certain forms of eye inflammation such as uveitis or iritis.
• Enlargement of the pupil of the eye as a diagnostic aid before certain eye examinations (e.g., cycloplegic refraction).
• Diagnosis of certain eye problems such as blurred vision in young children (6 years or below) and in children with squint eyes.
• Correction of amblyopia (poor eyesight in one eye) in children with poor eyesight.

Atropine Sulphate, an anticholinergic medicine, blocks the effects of acetylcholine in the eyes. This action relaxes the eye muscles, causing pupil dilation (mydriasis), which aids in diagnosing eye problems. It also reduces eye inflammation by blocking eye muscle movements. In cases of amblyopia, Atropine Sulphate temporarily blurs the healthy eye, prompting the brain to focus harder using the weaker eye.

Dosage and administration should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the specific condition being treated.

• Not recommended for patients with glaucoma.
• Use with caution in children with brain problems and/or fever.
• Avoid use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless necessary.
• Remove contact lenses before applying Atropine Sulphate wait at least 10 minutes before reinsertion.

Common side effects may include photosensitivity, eye irritation, redness, itching, or swelling. Contact a doctor if any symptoms worsen.

Regular monitoring of intraocular pressure (pressure in the eyes) is necessary before and during treatment with Atropine Sulphate. Children using Atropine Sulphateshould be monitored by their doctor for at least 30 minutes after application.
