Advixa 40 is a medicine used to treat a variety of conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease.
- Pediatric: Approved only for JIA and pediatric Crohn’s Disease; safety in other conditions not established.
- Elderly: Older adults may face a higher risk of infections and malignancies. Use with caution, especially in those over 65.
Adalimumab is a fully human monoclonal IgG1 antibody targeting TNF-alpha. It binds with high specificity to TNF-alpha, preventing its interaction with cell surface TNF receptors (p55 and p75). In vitro, it can also mediate lysis of cells presenting surface TNF in the presence of complement. TNF-alpha is an inflammatory cytokine playing a key role in immune system regulation. Elevated TNF-alpha levels are associated with inflammatory conditions such as RA, JIA, PsA, AS, and psoriasis. In these conditions, excessive TNF contributes to inflammation and joint/tissue damage. Adalimumab’s mechanism helps reduce inflammation, joint erosion, and skin plaque thickness.
