Albutein 20% contains Human albumin and falls under the category of Plasma expanders. It is employed to restore and uphold blood volume in cases of hypovolemia, characterized by symptoms like sweating, lightheadedness, confusion, fatigue, or reduced blood pressure due to diminished circulatory or extracellular fluid volume.
Additionally, Albutein 20%Â is utilized to address hypoalbuminemia, which involves low albumin levels responsible for maintaining fluid in blood vessels. This solution is effective in burns, Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), nephrosis (excessive protein in urine), and even during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery and Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn in infants.
However, its use is not recommended for severe anemia or heart failure with normal or elevated intravascular volume. Prior to receiving Albutein 20%, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, enlarged gut veins, pulmonary edema, bleeding tendency, or decreased/absent urine production.
Your doctor will supervise you to ensure your circulatory condition, electrolyte balance, and blood volume are in check. Use in pregnant and breastfeeding women requires caution—consult your doctor before administration. Child dosage will be determined by their weight.
