Daclin 1% Lotion is indicated for the treatment of:
- Acne vulgaris
- Erythrasma caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum
- Rosacea
- Periorificial dermatitis
- Folliculitis
- Stasis dermatitis
- Chronic lymphedema
- Familial pemphigus
- Dermal ulcers
Clindamycin is used to treat acne (pimples), a skin condition caused by the plugging of hair follicles with oil and dead skin cells. Symptoms include blackheads, pus-filled pimples, and large/red bumps.
The active ingredient in Daclin 1% Lotion, Clindamycin, works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which effectively stops bacterial growth. It exhibits a bacteriostatic effect, preventing the multiplication of bacteria.
Clindamycin is intended for external (skin) use only. It is important to avoid contact with the eyes, eyelids, lips, and mouth. Like all medications, Clindamycin may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include a burning sensation, itching, dryness, redness, oily skin, and peeling of the skin. Most of these side effects are mild and resolve on their own over time. If any side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
Before using Clindamycin, inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components. It is also important to disclose any history of eczema, dermatitis (skin inflammation), inflammatory bowel disease, or antibiotic-associated colitis (colon inflammation). Avoid using Clindamycin on sunburnt, dry, or irritated skin. If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor before using Clindamycin. This medication is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.
