Elagox contains elagolix, which competitively blocks GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This action suppresses the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), resulting in reduced production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries. Lower hormone levels help relieve endometriosis-related symptoms and pain.

There is limited experience with Elagox overdose. Patients should be monitored for signs of adverse reactions and provided supportive and symptomatic treatment as needed.
