Finapark Tablet/Safinamide Mesylate 100 mg

Safinamide is a medication used in combination with other drugs for treating the signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, a central nervous system disorder that affects movement, causing stiffness, shaking, and difficulties with walking, coordination, and balance.

Finapark 100 contains safinamide, which belongs to the class of medications known as monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) inhibitors. It works by increasing the levels of dopamine, a natural substance in the brain essential for controlling movement.

Safinamide may cause several common side effects, including:

  • Cough
  • Depression
  • Indigestion
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
  • Joint pain
  • Peripheral edema (swelling)

Most of these side effects are mild and typically resolve over time. However, if side effects persist or worsen, it is important to consult your doctor.

  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Safinamide or any other medications.
  • Medications: Disclose any other medications you are taking, as interactions may occur.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before using Safinamide.
  • Safinamide is not recommended for individuals with:
    • Albinism
    • Retinal degeneration
    • Uveitis
    • Inherited retinopathy
    • Severe progressive diabetic retinopathy

Safinamide should be used with caution in patients with:

  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Psychosis
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Dyskinesia (abnormal movements)
  • Sleep problems

There is a potential risk of serotonin syndrome when SAFINAMIDE is used alongside:

  • MAO inhibitors
  • Antidepressants
  • Opioid drugs
