Indications of Fixal 60
Fixal 60 belongs to a class of medications known as antihistamines. It is used to treat allergies such as hay fever, conjunctivitis, and some skin reactions such as eczema, hives, and bite and sting reactions. Watery eyes, a runny nose, sneezing, and itching are also relieved. Fixal 60 should be taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The dose may differ depending on the reason you are taking it. Take it exactly as directed by your doctor.
Pharmacology
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine that inhibits H1 receptors in the peripheral nervous system. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and reaches maximum plasma concentration in 2-3 hours. It does not appear to cross the blood-brain barrier.
Dosage & Administration
Allergic Rhinitis During the Season-
Adults and children aged 12 and up:
- 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, 180 mg once daily
- In the event of impaired renal function, take 60 mg once daily.
Children aged 6 to 11 years old:
- 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily in tablet form
- In the event of impaired renal function, take 30 mg once daily.
Children aged two to eleven years:
- 30 mg or 5 mL twice daily suspension
- If you have impaired renal function, take 30 mg or 5 ml once daily.
Idiopathic Chronic Urticaria-
Adults and children aged 12 and up:
- 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, 180 mg once daily
- In the event of impaired renal function, take 60 mg once daily.
Children aged 6 to 11 years old:
- 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily in tablet form
- In the event of impaired renal function, take 30 mg once daily.
Children aged 6 months to under 2 years:
- 15 mg or 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) suspension twice daily
- In the event of impaired renal function, take 15 mg or 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) once daily.
Children aged two to eleven years:
- 30 mg or 5 mL (1 tsp) twice daily suspension
- If you have impaired renal function, take 30 mg or 5 ml (1 tsp) once daily.
Interaction of Fixal 60
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride plasma concentration increased when combined with erythromycin or ketoconazole. Antacids containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide reduce fexofenadine hydrochloride absorption.
Contraindications
Patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its components should not use it.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is classified as Category C by the US Food and Drug Administration. As a result, unless the potential advantages to the other outweigh the potential hazards to the fetus, Fexofenadine Hydrochloride should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
- Do not take it with any fruit juices (such as apple, orange, or grapefruit) as they might make the drug less effective.
- Avoid using antacids 30 minutes before or after taking this medicine. It can make it harder for your body to absorb this medication.
- Patients over the age of 65 and those with impaired renal function should be treated with caution.
Storage Conditions
