Description

Generic Name: Folic Acid 5mg

Tablet Manufacturer/Distributor: Ziska Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

For treatment and prevention of iron and folic acid deficiency i.e. anemia, characterized by weakness, fatigue, difficulty in breathing, headache, irritability, and difficulty in concentration.

As a supplement to prevent nutritional deficiency during pregnancy, breastfeeding after surgery, or in conditions of nutritional malabsorption.

Pharmacology

In many metabolic systems, the production of a number of coenzymes depends on folitab 5 MG Tablet. It specifically aids in the generation of purine and pyrimidine, which are essential for the creation of blood and its constituent parts.

Dosage & Administration

  • Take this medication as directed, strictly adhering to the label.
  • If you have anemia-related symptoms, it is advised to consult a doctor before taking this medication.
  • You can take this medication with or without food. It is important to drink enough water when using this medication.
  • Preferably take it one hour before a meal, and avoid taking tea or coffee along with the supplement.

Interaction

Folic acid therapy may speed up the metabolism of phenytoin in people who are folate-deficient. Sulfasalazine, primidone, para-aminosalicylic acid, and phenytoin can all lower serum folate levels and result in a deficit. Oral contraceptives may also decrease the metabolism of folate, causing depletion, but it’s unclear whether this will result in anemia or changes to the megaloblastic follicle.
Folic acid may be counteracted by chloramphenicol when given concurrently, and dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors, such as methotrexate and trimethoprim, may prevent the body from using folic acid.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of allergy to folic acid or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.
