Formet L |(Linagliptin + Metformin Hydrochloride)
Formet L is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both Linagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride is appropriate.
Formet L combines the complementary actions of Linagliptin and Metformin to enhance glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
- Linagliptin, a DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor, prevents the degradation of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), thereby increasing their activity. This promotes glucose-dependent insulin release from pancreatic β-cells and reduces glucagon secretion from α-cells, improving overall glucose regulation.
- Metformin Hydrochloride, a biguanide class agent, decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. It lowers both fasting and postprandial plasma glucose levels without causing hypoglycemia.
