Indication

Freten is used for the following diseases:

• Emotional disturbances: anxiety and tension states, anxiety in depressive patients as adjuvant therapy, nervous tension, restlessness, and sleeplessness related to anxiety and tension. as a supplement to the treatment of the underlying illness that is causing the functional or psychological deficits of various organs brought on by stress and worry.
• Pseudoangina pectoris, precordial anxiety, tachycardia, emetogenic hypertension, dyspnea, and hyperventilation are symptoms of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
• * Digestive system: diarrhea, epigastric discomfort, spasm, ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel syndrome.
• * Urogenital tract: frequent urination, irritable bladder, and dysmenorrhea.
• * Additional psychosomatic disorders include psychogenic dermatoses and psychogenic headaches.
• Freten can be used as an adjuvant to psychotherapy in cases of psychoneurosis as well as the treatment of anxiety and tension caused by chronic organic diseases.

Pharmacology

Pyridylbenzodiazepine substance Freten has anxiolytic effects. It lessens stress, anxiety, and uneasiness when taken in small doses. Sedative and muscle-relaxing effects manifest at large doses. With sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, and skeletal muscle relaxant effects, Freten is a lipophilic, long-acting benzodiazepine. There are no antidepressant properties to it. As with other benzodiazepines, there is a chance that Freten will be abused, misused, or become addictive. Freten has a higher misuse potential than other benzodiazepines due to its quick absorption and quick beginning of the effect, according to numerous psychiatric professionals.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults: The ideal Freten dosage and frequency of administration depend on the particular patient, the severity of symptoms, and the history of prior psychiatric medication.
• 1.5–3 mg administered three times day is the typical dose for outpatient therapy.
• Severe instances, particularly in hospitals: 6–12 mg twice–three times per day.
• Outpatient care should start with modest doses and progressively increase to the ideal level. The entire course of treatment, including the tapering-off period, should generally not last longer than 8 to 12 weeks. In some circumstances, it can be necessary to prolong treatment past the maximum time frame advised, but only after a careful reevaluation of the patient’s condition and indications.

Interaction

Phenothiazines, barbiturates, MAO inhibitors, and psychoactive drugs may potentiate the action of Freten and should not be given concurrently.

Contraindication

Patients with known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines; acute pulmonary insufficiency; respiratory depression phobic or obsessional states; chronic psychosis.

Side Effects

Common side effects include drowsiness, sedation, unsteadiness, and ataxia. These are dose-related and may persist into the following day, even after a single dose. Other side effects are rare and include headache, vertigo, hypotension, gastrointestinal upsets, skin rashes, visual disturbances, and urinary retention.

Precaution & Warning

• In patients with chronic pulmonary insufficiency, and in patients with chronic renal or hepatic disease, dosage may need to be reduced.
• Freten should not be used alone to treat depression or anxiety associated with depression.

Freten should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of alcohol or drug abuse.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding 

• Pregnancy: The safety of Freten in pregnant women has not been established. Freten should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the first and last trimesters, unless there are compelling reasons.
• Lactation: Benzodiazepines have been detected in breast milk. If possible, the use of Freten should be avoided during lactation.
