Loteprednol Etabonate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by inhibiting mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It works by inducing proteins (lipocortins) that inhibit phospholipase A2, preventing the release of arachidonic acid, a precursor of inflammatory mediators.
0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension:
- Steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the eye, including allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea, superficial punctate keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, and cyclitis.
- Post-operative inflammation.
1% Ophthalmic Suspension:
- Similar to the 0.5% suspension, indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions and post-operative inflammation.
0.5% Ophthalmic Ointment:
- Steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions, including chronic anterior uveitis and corneal injuries.
- Post-operative inflammation and pain following ocular surgery.
0.5% Ophthalmic Gel:
- Post-operative inflammation and pain following ocular surgery.
- Steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions.
