Fosfomycin trometamol is a synthetic, broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by irreversibly blocking the enzyme enolpyruvyl transferase, an early and essential step in cell wall formation.
Fosfomycin is indicated only for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (acute cystitis) in women, caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis.
Adult women (≥18 years): One sachet as a single oral dose
- Can be taken with or without food
- Not recommended for children
Preparation:
Dissolve the full contents of one sachet in 100 ml of water, stir well, and drink immediately.
