Moxifloxacin, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone, acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV—enzymes vital for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. This dual mechanism prevents bacterial cell division and leads to cell death.
