Povidone-Iodine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic consisting of iodine complexed with povidone, a water-soluble polymer. This combination enhances stability and tolerability while gradually releasing free iodine to prolong antimicrobial action. It is effective against a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative), fungi, viruses, protozoa, and even bacterial spores.
