Salmolin Inhaler is used to relieve and prevent bronchospasm associated with bronchial asthma and reversible airway obstruction caused by conditions such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is also effective in preventing exercise-induced bronchospasm and can be used before physical activity or exposure to known triggers.

Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that relaxes the smooth muscles of the airways. At recommended doses, it primarily acts on bronchial beta-2 receptors with minimal effects on cardiac beta-1 receptors. It provides rapid bronchodilation within about five minutes, with effects lasting approximately four to six hours. Additionally, it helps reduce airway inflammation by inhibiting the release of substances such as histamine, prostaglandin D2, and neutrophil chemotactic factor from mast cells.
Salbutamol is classified as Pregnancy Category C. It should be used during pregnancy only when the expected benefit outweighs potential risks to the baby. Since it is unknown whether the drug passes into breast milk, caution is advised when administering it to breastfeeding mothers.
