Soria-D topical ointment is used for the treatment of plaque-type psoriasis vulgaris that responds to topical therapy. Soria-D topical suspension is indicated for managing plaque psoriasis affecting the scalp and body.
Betamethasone Dipropionate is a highly potent topical corticosteroid that provides rapid, significant, and long-lasting anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, vasoconstrictive, and immunosuppressive effects, though it does not cure the underlying condition. These effects may be intensified under occlusive conditions, increasing penetration through the stratum corneum by approximately tenfold.
Calcipotriol, a non-steroidal antipsoriatic agent derived from vitamin D, competes with the 1,25(OH)₂D₃ receptor to exert a vitamin D-like effect. It is as potent as the naturally occurring active form of vitamin D (1,25(OH)₂D₃) in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation but has a much lower impact on calcium metabolism. Calcipotriol promotes keratinocyte differentiation and inhibits excessive proliferation, effectively reversing the abnormal skin cell changes associated with psoriasis. The intended therapeutic outcome is the normalization of epidermal growth.
