Xitabin contains Capecitabine, a prodrug that is converted into 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) inside the body. This chemical disrupts the synthesis of DNA and RNA in cancer cells, thereby slowing their growth and eventually killing them. Xitabin is used to treat cancers of the breast, colon, and rectum. It may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor. It is often used alone or in combination with other medicines as part of chemotherapy.
