- Bicalon/Bicalutamide is a non-steroidal androgen receptor inhibitor that blocks androgen action by binding to cytosol androgen receptors in target tissues. Prostate carcinoma, being androgen-sensitive, responds to treatments that inhibit androgen effects or remove androgen sources.
- Used in combination with a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analog for the treatment of Stage D2 metastatic carcinoma of the prostate.

Bicalutamide
- Treatment of prostate cancer, particularly advanced or metastatic stages (e.g., Stage D2 carcinoma).
- May also treat other androgen-dependent conditions as determined by a physician.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy as it can cause fetal harm.
- Not indicated for use in females.
- Monitor PT/INR when used with coumarin anticoagulants.
- Gynecomastia and breast pain: Reported with higher doses (150 mg).
- Blood glucose monitoring: Consider patients using Bicalon with LHRH agonists due to potential reduction in glucose tolerance.
- Regular monitoring is recommended; assess clinical progression if PSA levels increase.
